Breast Surgical Oncology Oncoplastic and Research Fellowship: Ottawa, ON

The University of Ottawa, Department of Surgery in conjunction with The Ottawa Hospital Breast Health Center are seeking applicants for the Breast Surgical Oncology Oncoplastic and Research Fellowship, commencing July 1st or August 1st, 2020.

The Ottawa Hospital is a high-volume tertiary care centre which performs over 800 breast cancer surgeries per year, in three main hospital sites.

The highlight of this multidisciplinary fellowship will be a focus on oncoplastic breast surgical techniques for general surgeons who are intending to focus a major part of their practice in breast surgical oncology.  The fellowship will include exposure to primary breast reconstruction as well as rotations through various disciplines involved in management of breast disease; with a goal of providing a high volume interdisciplinary training experience designed to meet the fellow’s individual educational needs. Candidates who are accepted into the program will also be involved in community outreach, continuing medical education, and research. Research will be supported, and the fellow will be expected to contribute a research project suitable for presentation and publication during their fellowship. The fellowship duration will generally be one-year, but can be extended to two years based on specific educational needs and desire for possible masters degree.

The successful candidate will be expected to have completed general surgical training and be eligible for, or have certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the province of Ontario. Unfortunately we are unable to accept foreign medical graduates without Royal College of Canada Certification at this time.
