Membership Levels

Full Membership (US/Canada) – A medical practitioner who holds a valid certificate in general surgery which is in good standing from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Le Collège des Médecins du Québec or The American Board of Surgery.  Holds a valid license in good standing to practice medicine in Canada or the United States.

In Fellowship Training (Associate Fellow) – Any post-graduate trainee who has recently completed a general surgery program, and who is undertaking additional postgraduate training.

Medical Student – Any person currently enrolled in a Canadian or U.S. Medical School, and is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the Association of American Colleges (AAMC).

International Member (Non-US/Canada) – Surgeons and surgical trainees residing abroad (outside of Canada or the United States).

Affiliate – Any person belonging to one of the following, or similar, classifications: Medical doctors (ex: Anesthesiologists, Critical care), Non-Medical Doctors (ex: Masters degree Scientists, PhDs. Scientists), Office/Business Managers, Allied Health Professionals (ex: Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Registered Nurse First Assistants, Registered Nurses), Technicians (ex: Certified Surgical Technologists).

Retired – If you are a retired medical practitioner that has held a valid certificate in general surgery from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Le Collège des Médecins du Québec or The American Board of Surgery, and is no longer practicing, you are welcome to contact our office at cags@cags-accg.ca to be placed in this complimentary category.
