Welcome to General Surgery!

Congratulations on your match! We are excited to welcome you into the Canadian Association of General Surgeons. Your hard work and dedication to your education have not gone unnoticed. We look forward to working with you now and throughout your careers.

The CAGS Residents Committee, made up of representatives from all Canadian General Surgery programs, developed this handbook for you, the General Surgery resident. We have pulled together a variety of resources that we hope will help you on our journey as a resident and into your career as a general surgeon. We have also tried to answer some of the questions that will likely arise during your training around CBD learning, electives, fellowships, and job hunting. It is our hope that the resident handbook which is updated annually can be a resource for your throughout your years as a general surgery resident. In addition to the handbook, other initiatives from the CAGS resident committee can be found on our social media. Check out the links below for more information.
