We are supporting healthy, sustainable global surgical programs by engaging current and future global General Surgeons in building mentorship connections.
The aim of the Global Surgery Mentorship Program is to connect CAGS members with an interest in global surgery from across the country, or around the world. The group will meet twice a year (October and March) for discussions on various topics related to the benefits and challenges of working with the field of global surgery whether in a clinical, educational, or research capacity. We are looking for mentors who are interested in sharing from their previous experiences in global surgery and mentees, at any stage in their career, who are considering global surgery as part of their career path to join our program. Mentors and mentees will be paired one to one after the first session to continue building these relationships year-round.
We are currently accepting applications for mentors and mentees interested in participating in our 2024-2026 Program Sessions.
Planned meeting topics for a 2-year mentorship cycle:
– Pathfinding in Global Surgery
– Balance and Pitfalls in Global Surgery
– Future of and in Global Surgery
– Canadian Global Surgery and Research
